Mary, 26, is a counseling intern at an agency that specializes in working with children. One of her first clients was a two-year-old boy who was raped anally and will have to wear a colostomy bag for the rest of his life.  She loves working with young children, but she struggles with her feelings after working with some of the abused children she sees. She can't afford health insurance, but realizes she would benefit greatly from seeing a therapist to help her better protect her own emotional health. Working with the abused, and their abusers is stressful. Mary has not talked to her supervisor about her feelings, fearful she might hear, “If you can't handle it, get out.” The day Mary worked with that two-year old boy, she had been so depressed she stopped on the way home from work and bought her first lottery ticket and a six-pack of beer. Previously a non-drinker, Ashley finished the beer and didn't win the lottery.
